Vertically Partnered Wealth Management

Rapport Financial is a fee-based registered investment advisor headquartered in San Francisco, CA. Our vertically partnered approach to wealth management was designed to surround our clients with the very best team of professionals in providing comprehensive wealth management and financial planning services.

We chose Rapport for our firm name after reflecting upon the relationships we’ve sought to build in both our professional and personal lives. Rapport is defined as a close and harmonious relationship in which the people understand each others feelings and communicate well.  We believe this is paramount to the successful and long-lasting relationships we strive to build with our clients to help them achieve all of their financial goals.

 1. Build Rapport.

Initial meetings are designed to obtain a deep understanding of a client’s investment mindset (views on risk), investment approach (views on loss) and investment purpose (who/what they are investing for).

During this initial stage of discovery, which we call building rapport, we focus on defining a client’s life priorities and goals.

We then have clients complete a risk assessment to determine their risk number, a quantitative way to pinpoint how much risk they want, how much risk they need to take to reach their goals, and how much risk they have in their overall portfolio. Studies have shown that the old way of stereotyping investors risk tolerance based on their age just doesn’t work. Every investor comes with different experiences that have a direct impact on their ability to withstand volatility and uncertainty.

2. Discovery and Analysis.

Planning is the most critical element of wealth management.  During this Discovery and Analysis step, we work with you to provide a well thought out plan of action that will help you get the most out of your finances for years to come.

We will ask you for certain quantitative (financial statements) and qualitative information in order to better under your overall financial situation.  Then we will prepare a Scope of Engagement outlining the planning opportunities and where we believe we would add value as your financial planner.

Upon acceptance of the Scope of Engagement, we get to work on conducting an analysis and preparing a written plan, similar to how a successful business would draw up a business plan.

Investors in a fiduciary arrangement are entitled to expect a well thought out written plan for long term financial success.

Leveraging award winning Financial Planning Software and our experience as CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERS, we take you through the 7-Step Financial Planning Process designed by the CFP Board.

3. Recommendations and Ongoing Implementation.

The third and final step is recommending and implementing the financial plan and investment portfolio with client-appropriate risk parameters.  The process doesn’t end with implementation.  As a fiduciary, we continue to monitor your financial plan and portfolio and perform the following services, always putting your financial well-being first as a legal fiduciary.

  • Discretionary Investment Management
  • Manager and Strategy Selection
  • Cash Management
  • Asset Allocation
  • Portfolio Rebalancing
